Marion Freeborn Undergraduate Scholarships

Claire Ekwedike is majoring in Managerial Economics and double minoring in Technology Management and Psychology and plans to pursue a career in Financial Consulting. Her involvement in student organizations such as Davis Women in Business and Consult Your Community has helped her realize her passion for finance and advisory. Her involvement in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and her work at the Student Recruitment and Retention Center, as the Student Academic Achievement Coordinator, has helped her understand her passion for serving her community and helping others towards their goals. As she continues to pursue her dreams and future, she is committed to ensuring that other students and community members have the opportunity to do so as well.

Mariana Perez Sierra is a senior majoring in International Relations and Chicana/o Studies with a minor in Human Rights. With the support of UFC, she will continue working as an intern for the UC Davis Article 26 Backpack team, creating an international collaborative project and building relations with U.S.-Mexico border communities and in-transit peoples. She will further continue her advocacy for the human rights of marginalized peoples through her role as a senior paralegal intern at the Flynn Law Office in Oakland, California. Upon graduation, she will apply to law school to advance her legal platform for the upholding of the voices and testimonial knowledge carried by comunidades silenciadas.

Madison Seeman is a third year Design major additionally minoring in Art Studio and Professional Writing. Using these fields of study, she hopes to pursue a career in human-centered design, where she can use both her love of art and her passion for problem solving to build solutions for progress. Outside of class, Madison works on the ASUCD Aggie Arts committee, where she devotes her time to creating and uplifting opportunities for students to make, see, and share art on campus. Using her innate creativity and the experience she has gained in her time at UC Davis, Madison is committed to using her designs to not only make the world better, but more beautiful.

Xinyi Tong is majoring in Communication with a minor in Education at the University of California, Davis. She plans to pursue a career in intercultural communication research and education, with a focus on bridging cultural gaps in global contexts. Her work as a volunteer in different non-profit organizations such has Chinese Union and Friends of Children with Special Needs, has deepened her understanding of how communication impacts society and strengthened her passion for fostering effective cross-cultural dialogue. The UFC Marion Freeborn Undergraduate Scholarship will significantly support Xinyi's academic journey, allowing her to fully engage in her studies and research without financial constraints. As she continues to pursue her dreams in the field of communication, Xinyi is determined to contribute to creating more inclusive and understanding global communities through her work and research.

Kate Fizell Founder’s Scholarship

Keerti (Kiki) Raj is majoring in Animal Science. She is pursuing veterinary medicine in small animals and exotics. She works part-time at the UC Davis Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital in the Small Animal Clinic and is involved in different animal research projects. She is also passionate about wildlife rehabilitation after interning at a wildlife rehab center over the summer. Ever since Kiki can remember, she has connected with animals in a way she doesn’t have any explanation for. Her passion for animals has instilled in her the values of service towards their welfare and encouraged her to pursue her passion as her profession. This scholarship will greatly support her educational journey, especially for her single-parent mother who has been working tirelessly to help Kiki achieve her goals. Pursuing Veterinary medicine is the only path she sees for herself and she is excited to contribute to the sustainability of the animal kingdom and make a meaningful impact in the field of veterinary medicine.

Marion Freeborn Re-Entry Scholarship

Kristine David is majoring in Sociology with a Law and Society emphasis and plans to attend law school after completing her final year at UC Davis. Her work with the Sacramento Justice League providing support through the legal system for survivors of domestic violence has solidified her plans to focus on social justice and advancing equality for women and vulnerable people. This scholarship will ensure her ability to continue working with SJL while maintaining her stellar academic performance as she nears the finish line for her undergrad. Driven by a desire to facilitate meaningful change for those historically underserved in her hometown of Sacramento, Kristine is excited for the possibilities that a legal education will afford her and what that will mean for her community.

Carol Lee Coss Memorial Scholarship

Faith Arnett is majoring in Design and English and is primarily interested in exhibition design. She loves the interdisciplinary nature of museum work and how it involves both storytelling and visual elements. Her exhibition “Filipino-American Laundry” and her work in promoting Filipino artists at the Pence Gallery have inspired her to continue advocating for underrepresented artists. She hopes to one day design museum exhibitions that will inspire others to learn and create no matter their background. This scholarship will allow her to end her last year on a high note as she focuses on finishing her classes with work that demonstrates all she has learned.

Blanche L. Price Scholarships

Darya Einollahi is a single mother and non-traditional transfer student majoring in Cellular Biology and plans to pursue a career as Osteopathic Doctor (DO). After watching many loved ones fall victim to opiod addiction as a result of an injury, she realized her true calling. As both a mother and a mentor, she is passionate about guiding people to achieve optimal health using an integrative approach, so as to not risk possible future addictions and injuries.
